 Welcome to Our Campaign 2010! I am extremely pleased to formally announce my candidacy for the seat of Texas Senate District 2! My exuberance stems in large part from the vast amount of work left undone by the current legislative body and the many visible opportunities that exist to seize the moment and help create change on a regional level. What a challenge! And I am up to it!  The 2009 Texas Legislature has just adjourned and once again, critical issues that affect all Texans fell prey to partisan politics and an overall unprofitable session. While our state leaders monopolized valuable time and taxpayer dollars looking for a solution to a virtually non-existent problem - voter ID legislation - the very real problems that affect us all - like expanded healthcare, college costs, infrastructre funding options, and over-the-top homeowners insurance rates - died in the chambers due to the same old familiar negligence and failure to prioritize the pressing needs of "we, the people." It is time for a shift change! I am running for the Texas Senate with the objective of helping to create policy and legislation that will improve the social and economic conditions that impact every resident of this state. I believe effective leadership must be able to identify the need, initiate the dialogue, and institute the change. Because I daily sit where you sit and deal with the same issues we all face, I am confident in my ability to advocate for you and promote our common causes before state government. I believe the majority of us would agree on the imperative that our district must have a much more vocal proponent in Austin - one who is capable, confident and committed to the challenge that accompanies any significant change.
