Kathleen Shaw for Texas Senate - "Advocate for the Common Man - SHAW CAN"

After a year-long contemplation and giving
the idea grave consideration, Kathleen
made the decision early
last year to seek out a
seat in the Texas Senate.  One of her
primary and chief concerns
is that Texas ranks last or near last among the states on virtually every issue that pertains to quality of life. For a state that boasts
of our economic might that fact is reprehensible. She is persuaded that we can and must do vastly better and firmly believes we can evolve into a more perfect union than the one in which
we currently reside.

Holding to the principle belief that every state’s vision should operate within the framework and within the confines of the larger national vision, her platform will  reflect a continuation of the fight to resolve the core issues that have plagued Texas and the nation for so long, and to raise the overall standard of living for all of our state’s residents.

Kathleen is currently laboring in an ongoing effort to establish a chapter of the Texas Democratic Women in her geographical locale, an organization whose objective and goal it is to provide the political structural support that will encourage, equip, and under gird more women in their efforts to enter the governmental arena. As well, she serves on the Advisory Council of House District 109 as an alternate representative. Prior to her decision to run for the Senate, she served as the Chair for Dallas County Precinct 4109 and Community Coordinator of the Parkway Subdivision in Cedar Hill, Texas. Kathleen was a 2005 City Council candidate and holds membership in the the Southwest Dallas County Democrats organization. Most recently she served as a volunteer on the campaign of Senatorial candidate for District 16, Attorney Rain Minns, and as well worked on the campaign of U.S. Congressman Chet Edwards. Kathleen is an alumnus of Prairie View A&M University and a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority.

Kathleen is married to Charlie Shaw. She is the mother of four children - Briana, Nicole, Isaac, and Jessica. They are 15-year residents of Cedar Hill, Texas and worshippers at Gospel Tabernacle Church in Dallas, Texas.
